Operating principle
The SK-55L float steam trap is designed to drain condensate using a float mechanism. During system start-up, while the system is still warm, the built-in thermostatic air vent removes accumulated air and non-condensable gases. As the system warms up, steam gets inside the steam trap, the capsule expands and closes the valve. As condensate fills the steam trap body, the float rises, opening the valve and releasing condensate. As soon as all the condensate is drained, the steam trap is filled with steam. At this time, the float drops, closing the valve.
The design provides for the constant presence of a certain amount of water inside the steam trap, forming a water seal. This prevents the presence of "flyaway steam"
Installation
The SK-55L float steam trap is installed horizontally. If the flow is from top to bottom, vertical installation can be performed if necessary.
Make sure that the steam trap is installed in accordance with the direction of condensate flow, it is indicated on the body. If the direction is not indicated on the body and is not reflected in the technical documentation, it is generally assumed that the flow direction is from right to left.
Check the maximum pressure and temperature values. If condensate after steam traps is discharged into the atmosphere, it is necessary to provide safety measures. There must be at least 200 mm of free space above the steam trap cover for its removal and servicing the steam trap without removing it from the line.
